Corporate History

HAI was formed in 1985 to provide automation products to the newly emerging automation and controls market. HAI's founders, Tom Pickral, Brian Yokum, and Jay McLellan, worked together in the commercial automation industry and sought to apply this expertise to the home automation market. HAI is a privately held company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

Energy conservation, alternative energy, and better building techniques are ongoing endeavors being pursued by HAI‘s Engineering and Product Development divisions in conjunction with several private and government agencies.

All products are sold through a worldwide network of Distribution Partners and installed by trained dealers in over 80 countries.

Reliability & Approvals

HAI systems have been installed worldwide for over twenty years. Many of HAI's first generation controllers are still in use; some of them have been installed and running continuously since 1988!

HAI uses embedded controller technology in its home control systems, a technology proven to be reliable with decades of use. HAI controllers have no fans, disk drives, or other moving parts to fail.

All HAI products can work in a stand-alone fashion so they are not dependent on any other products in the house, including computers. There is no single part that can cause an entire system to fail. For example, light switches still control the lights and thermostats still control your heating and cooling system. These familiar devices are easy to use for homeowners and guests in everyday living.

To ensure the highest reliability and safety, HAI has products tested by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the most stringent test lab in North America. , HAI also meets CE (European Standard) requirements, to ensure the highest quality product available.
